Exaile Clutter GUI

This project started with a draft from Pasi about the ideal GUI for a music player. The idea is to make a simple GUI with basic features for browsing, rating, sorting and listening to music in a library. The GUI also emphasizes the visual aspect of listening your music.
Exaile Clutter GUI

Objectives

A new GUI written in Clutter, and with only the most simple features, available as an alternative to the current and full-featured user interface.

This new interface should allow easily browsing music, listening to particular songs, creating dynamic playlists and set criteria for selecting which songs to include in such playlists. It should also emphasize data about artists, albums, song lyrics, similar music to the currently playing songs, and allow easily listening to available and similar music.

Current status

Round 1

The first round is Pasi’s work, with a few mockups showing the surface of what an ideal music player user interface would be for Pasi. The mockups are available on his blog article about the ideal music player.

Round 2

The round 2 work is expected to begin in 2010 Q1, with a review of the current mockup, and focus on the dynamic playlist system.
